Recently, we have received a lot of questions about vaccines.  With the H1N1 (Swine flu) virus prevalent in the news, and vaccines such as Gardasil (for HPV/cervical cancer) receiving a lot of press, we have decided to add this section on Vaccines for our website members, so you may have the best information from which to draw your conclusions and make your decisions.

In the spirit of making sure you are well-informed before making decisions about vaccinations, I recommend the following book: Vaccinations: A Thoughtful Parent's Guide by Aviva Jill Romm.  While many books about vaccinations are extremely biased one way or another, this book gives an even-handed presentation, discussing the dangers of not vaccinating (the illnesses we vaccinate and how serious they are) as well as the dangers of vaccinating (potential chronic illness and/or conditions like autism).  It is well documented and straightforward, and you will gain a significant understanding about the subject of vaccines if you take the time to read this book.

I recommend every parent read the book for the sake of their children, as whichever decision you make can have lifelong consequences that your children will have to live with.
